Apple prepares foldable iPhones trial in Taiwan, report says:Tech giant aims to test manufacturing processes in India by 2026

Following the launch of the iPhone 17, Samsung took a jab at Apple by bringing back its 2022 tweet, “Let us know when it folds,” and this time added, “#iCant believe this is still relevant.” Looks like Apple heard them, or at least the rumours suggest so. According to Nikkei Asia (Japan-based, English-language news organization), Apple has begun discussions with suppliers to establish a pilot production line in Taiwan, aiming to test manufacturing processes for a foldable iPhone. Foldable trials in Taiwan Apple’s suppliers are exploring a site in northern Taiwan to establish a mini pilot line, the report said. The facility would be used for equipment testing and fine-tuning the folding mechanism and production steps needed for such a device. Once the process is streamlined, the company plans to replicate it in India, where mass production of the foldable iPhone could begin ahead of a possible 2026 launch. Push to expand output No comment from Apple Apple has not responded to requests for comment on the report. Earlier this month, at its annual product event, the company unveiled the iPhone 17 lineup and a slimmer iPhone Air, while keeping prices steady despite ongoing U.S. tariffs.
Well, once the process is fine-tuned in Taiwan, the plan is to reproduce that at scale in India. That’s where Apple aims to do the mass production.
