IBM launches world’s first-ever AI-driven cricket activation:Big Blue in talks with IPL franchise after Think Mumbai 2025 presentation

In a new boost to sports and professional cricket, International Business Machine(IBM) has introduced the world’s first-ever cricket activation powered by Watsonx. It is an enterprise-ready AI and data platform that has been created by the world’s leading provider of hybrid cloud and AI. It is a big leap in technology for cricket that IBM unveiled at the Think Mumbai 2025. Notably, IBM is not just targeting the usual simulation this time. Rather, they have dived deep down into the strategisation, ways to improve the performance, and explore new experiences for the cricket enthusiasts. AI experience beyond simulation At the Think Mumbai 2025, IBM showcased the live experience of their product that goes beyond simulation and displayed how AI is slowly impacting professional cricket. The AI-driven cricket activation will not only decode the game strategy but also enhance performance and improve the fan experience. Primarily, the activation is a mix of sports, data and scalable AI. As per the IBM Sports Survey Report 2025, about 86% Indian fans have high trust in AI-generated sports content. Meanwhile, 91% of Indian fans use the sports app, one of the highest numbers on global level. Even during the matches inside stadiums, 95% of attendees use apps. Out of these 95% attendees, 97% primarily use them for real-time stats, live commentary, and in-stadium enhancements. So, as the new era comes to reality, 93% people believe that AI will have a huge impact on sports user experience by 2027. Considering the prediction of the majority, one of India’s leading state cricket associations joined hands with IBM to launch Cricket IQ Analytics Platform. What is Cricket IQ Analytics Platform? Cricket IQ Analytics Platform is a first-of-its-kind generative AI system that analyses player fitness, mental conditioning, match context, and environmental factors to deliver practical, natural-language insights that will help coaches to make faster, smarter, and more confident decisions. Overall, it will reduce the uncertainty regarding players’ form and help to enhance player performance. Meanwhile, IBM is also in talks with an IPL franchise to test the product in the cash-rich Indian cricket league.
