From Intel’s labs to OpenAI’s core Katti joined Intel about four years ago, first leading its networking division before taking charge of the company’s AI strategy earlier this year. Now, at OpenAI, he’ll shift from building chips to creating the infrastructure, massive systems of processors and hardware, that train AI models like ChatGPT. His background, a mix of academic research at Stanford University and chip design experience, makes him ideal to guide the company’s hardware expansion.
