Ever skipped a funny or trending Reel just because it wasn’t in your language? That might soon be history.
Meta, the company behind Facebook and Instagram, is now using AI to translate and dub Reels in Hindi, making global content easier to understand for millions of Indian users. Even Mark Zuckerberg himself showed off the feature in an Instagram Reel, where his voice smoothly switched between different languages, including Hindi, proving how natural the translations sound. AI that translates, dubs, and even lip syncs Meta’s new AI tool doesn’t just translate captions; it goes a step further. The system can dub the Reel into another language using the creator’s own voice and tone, making it sound as if they actually spoke in Hindi, Portuguese, Spanish, or English. It even syncs the creator’s lip movements with the translated audio, giving a more natural and lifelike effect.
So, a creator from Spain could sound as if they’re speaking fluent Hindi.
Who can use the feature The feature is rolling out to: Creators can choose to translate their Reels before uploading. They can preview the dubbed version, and if it doesn’t feel right, they can decide not to post it. Will Instagram and Facebook automatically translate reels Not really, Meta says it won’t force translations on anyone. Users can choose whether to watch the original video or the AI-translated version. Every translated clip will also show a small label that reads “Translated with Meta AI” to make it clear that it’s AI-generated. You can also turn translations on or off anytime from your settings. Connecting the world, one language at a time With support for Hindi, Portuguese, Spanish, and English, Meta aims to make Reels more global and accessible.
An Indian creator can now reach audiences in Latin America, while a Portuguese influencer can easily connect with Hindi-speaking fans, all without learning a new language. Meta says this update is just the beginning. Alongside this, it’s also experimenting with “Vibes,” an AI-only content feed where users can share and explore AI-generated videos.
