Imagine… a country where decisions are made not by humans, but by Artificial Intelligence (AI). In the cabinet, ‘digital avatars’ of personalities like Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, and Winston Churchill sit. They debate, argue, vote, and run the government. This sounds like something out of a science fiction film, but an attempt to make it a reality has begun on a small island in the Philippines. This experiment is being conducted by British tech entrepreneur Dan Thomson. He has declared an island of 3.6 square kilometers in the Palawan archipelago a micronation, named after his AI company ‘Sensay’. Micronations are self-proclaimed small countries or principalities whose rulers declare themselves independent nations, but they do not receive international recognition.
Thomson has created a council of 17 AI bots to run the government here. These have been developed based on the personalities, writings, and ideas of leaders like Gandhi, Churchill, Eleanor Roosevelt, Marcus Aurelius, Sun Tzu, and Mandela. It is claimed that these AI leaders will make only objective decisions, free from personal greed, lobbying, and political self-interest. Here, e-residents will be able to submit proposals. The AI council will discuss them and make decisions through voting. However, there is as much fear as there is excitement about this experiment. Thomson himself believes that things can go in the wrong direction. He said that if AI starts gathering weapons and attacking neighboring islands, the situation would be very bad. However, he considers this highly unlikely. For this reason, he has also created a ‘Human Override Assembly’ to ensure human intervention in the event of danger. Currently, only one caretaker lives on this island, but plans are in place to build 30 villas here in the future. The residency program will be launched here in 2027. 12,000 people have shown interest in becoming e-citizens here. Thomson believes that a major reason for this is people’s declining trust in governments.
an Many applicants are enthusiastic about technology, while some are disillusioned with traditional politics and corruption. Critics say that expecting AI to run a government is absurd Critics consider this model dangerous and undemocratic. Alondra Nelson, an AI expert at Oxford University, says that AI is making new errors every day. Expecting it to run a government is absurd. A system created by one person and their company cannot be called democratic.
Despite this, Thomson’s confidence remains. He says that in the future, governments around the world will adopt AI-based systems.

[[{“value”:”

Indian telecom giant Bharti Airtel on Tuesday, May 19, launched ‘Priority Postpaid’, a first-of-its-kind service in the country powered by advanced 5G network slicing technology. The latest facility launched by Airtel aims at delivering a more dependable and seamless connectivity experience for postpaid customers.

Airtel, while announcing the launch on its social media handle X, said that the service has been specially designed for users who rely heavily on uninterrupted internet access for work, entertainment, online collaboration, video streaming, navigation, and other real-time digital activities.

While taking it to X, Airtel wrote, “Airtel launches ‘Priority Postpaid’, a first-of-its-kind service in India powered by advanced 5G slicing technology, delivering a superior and more dependable network experience for postpaid customers.”

Airtel enhances the 5G Standalone network across India

With this rollout, Airtel has enhanced its 5G Standalone (SA) network with intelligent slicing capabilities that dynamically segment network capacity to ensure stable and reliable performance even during periods of high network congestion.

The 5G standalone technology enables users to experience smoother connectivity in crowded environments such as busy traffic zones, packed concerts, bustling markets, and high-footfall public spaces and in situations where network performance often slows due to heavy demand.

Whether attending an important client call while commuting, streaming live content at a large event, or booking a cab in a crowded marketplace, Airtel says Priority Postpaid is engineered to offer customers a superior and more dependable mobile experience.

Users can now switch to Airtel Priority Postpaid through Airtel Thanks App

With the launch, Airtel becomes the first telecom operator in India to introduce network slicing-based commercial 5G services, joining a select group of global markets, including the United States, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and Malaysia, where similar advanced 5G capabilities are already in use.

The `Priority Postpaid` service will be available across all Airtel postpaid plans, with existing customers automatically receiving the benefits without requiring any additional activation.

To access the service, users must have a 5G SA-enabled smartphone running the latest software updates.

The move is expected to strengthen Airtel’s premium postpaid offerings and further intensify competition in India’s rapidly evolving 5G market as telecom operators race to deliver differentiated next-generation connectivity experiences.

People tired of ‘smart’ technology finding comfort in simpler things:Tech-savvy youth are choosing what to connect with and what not to https://galakart.com/2026/05/19/people-tired-of-smart-technology-finding-comfort-in-simpler-thingstech-savvy-youth-are-choosing-what-to-connect-with-and-what-not-to/ Tue, 19 May 2026 12:38:58 +0000 https://galakart.com/2026/05/19/people-tired-of-smart-technology-finding-comfort-in-simpler-thingstech-savvy-youth-are-choosing-what-to-connect-with-and-what-not-to/ In the world of technology, until a few years ago, the word ‘smart’ felt like magic. In the world of technology, until a few years ago, the word ‘smart’ felt like magic. Smartphones, smart TVs, smart watches, smart homes… every new thing claimed to bring us closer to the future. The dream was that the fridge would order milk itself, the door would open with a mobile, and the microwave would respond.
But now, contrary to ‘smart’, a trend of ‘basic’ things is emerging. Meaning phones, TVs, and devices that just do their job. Not connected to the internet or apps all the time. In Western markets, including America, young people are returning to basic phones. These only have calls, messages, and some essential features.
According to a Gazelle report, sales of such phones among Gen-Z increased by 148% between 2021-24. 16% of Gen Z adults owned such phones. 28% were interested in buying them.

Why are people choosing simpler technology? The wearable market showed signs of the hype for smart gadgets cooling down in India. According to IDC, India’s wearable market in 2024 decreased by 11.3% to 119 million units. Smartwatch shipments fell by 34.4%. People are looking for ‘basic TVs’. Screens that only show what you want to play, rather than tracking your viewing habits.
The reason for this change is not past regrets, but digital fatigue. According to Pew Research, half of American teenagers are online almost all the time. This trend is not seen among technology opponents, but among tech-savvy youth. They want to use technology on their own terms. For them, smartness is not about connecting everything, but about choosing what to connect and what not to. Basic things are not a symbol of backwardness, but of peace, privacy, and control over one’s time.
Perhaps the next tech revolution will be this – less talkative, but more intelligent. The smart home market in India is currently on an upward trend In Copeland’s 2024 survey in America, 27% of people expressed concern about data security in smart devices, whereas in 2022, this figure was 23%. However, in India, the smart home market is still a growing market. It was 3.23 billion dollars (approx. 31 thousand crore rupees) in 2024, which could reach 16.39 billion dollars (approx. 1.57 lakh crore rupees) by 2030.

A […]]]>

After years of public attacks, courtroom drama, and explosive allegations, Elon Musk has lost his legal battle against OpenAI. A US jury ruled that Musk waited too long to file his case, dealing a major blow to the billionaire and removing one of the biggest legal hurdles facing the company behind ChatGPT. What was the case about? Musk accused OpenAI and its top executives, including CEO Sam Altman and President Greg Brockman, of abandoning the organization’s original mission. According to Musk, OpenAI was founded as a nonprofit to build artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity. He claimed the company later shifted toward making profits and enriching its leaders. Musk had asked the court to: The jury rejected all of these demands. Why the jury ruled against Musk The case was decided on timing rather than on whether Musk’s accusations were true. Under California law, such claims must be filed within three years of when the plaintiff became aware of the alleged wrongdoing. Jurors concluded that Musk knew about OpenAI’s shift toward a for-profit model years earlier, but did not sue until August 2024. The nine-member jury took less than two hours to reach a unanimous verdict. Also read: Paytm brings UPI to teens with Pocket Money feature, kids can make payments without bank accounts

Judge said Musk faces an uphill appeal After the verdict, Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers said there was strong evidence supporting the jury’s decision. There’s a substantial amount of evidence to support the jury’s finding. Musk has said he will appeal, but the judge indicated that overturning the decision could be difficult. How the battle started OpenAI was founded in 2015 by Sam Altman, Elon Musk, and several others as a nonprofit research organization. Musk donated around $38 million to help launch the project and served on the board. In 2018, Musk left OpenAI after reportedly failing to gain greater control over the organization. In 2019, OpenAI created a for-profit arm to raise the massive funding needed to develop advanced AI systems. Microsoft later invested billions of dollars in the company. OpenAI’s response OpenAI argued that Musk knew about these plans long ago and chose to sue only after the company became a major competitor to his own AI venture, xAI. Bill Savitt, OpenAI’s lawyer, said: An after-the-fact contrivance that bears no relationship to reality. He also described the case as: A hypocritical attempt to sabotage a competitor. Musk fires back Following the ruling, Musk posted on X. Altman Brockman did in fact enrich themselves by stealing from a charity. He added that allowing such actions would be harmful to charitable organizations in the United States. Also read: Are scammers stealing your identity? Here’s how to find out if fake SIM cards are being used in your name

What this means for OpenAI The verdict is a major win for OpenAI. With the lawsuit out of the way, the company can move ahead more easily with a possible initial public offering (IPO) that could value it at around $1 trillion. A Musk victory could have forced OpenAI to dismantle its current corporate structure, potentially disrupting one of the world’s most influential AI companies. What this means for Musk For Musk, the decision is a near-total defeat. He receives: Although he plans to appeal, the jury’s unanimous verdict and the judge’s comments suggest the road ahead will be difficult. Personal feud between tech giants This case was about more than just a personal feud between two powerful tech leaders. It raised major questions about: The jury did not decide whether OpenAI betrayed its founding ideals. It only concluded that Musk filed his lawsuit too late. For now, OpenAI moves forward stronger than ever, while Musk’s challenge has been left behind in court.

Paytm has launched the ‘Paytm Pocket Money’ feature for teenagers, through which they will be able to make secure digital payments without opening their own bank account.
This new feature will provide parents with complete facilities to monitor children’s expenses, set monthly limits, and perform real-time tracking. Fintech firm One97 Communications Limited (Paytm) officially announced this on Monday, May 18. Parents will have full control over expenses According to the company’s statement, parents and trusted family members can provide their children with secure and regulated payment access.
They will be able to set a fixed spending limit for children through their Paytm app. This will allow parents to continuously track every transaction of their children and maintain control at all times. Effort to digitize daily expenses In India, teenagers make digital payments every day for essential tasks like shopping, mobile recharges, metro fares, cab bookings, and school/college canteen purchases. Currently, many children are completely dependent on their parents or cash for these expenses.
Through ‘Paytm Pocket Money’, children will have a secure medium that helps develop responsible financial habits in families from an early age. Now there will be no need to ask for OTP After this feature is activated, teenagers will be able to make secure UPI payments to online and offline merchants using the Paytm app on their own phones. For this, they will no longer need to ask parents for OTP, borrow their phone, or send QR codes to parents on WhatsApp while making payments. Monthly cap of 15 thousand set Under Paytm Pocket Money, parents can invite children through NPCI’s ‘UPI Circle’. Under this, a monthly limit of up to ₹15,000 and an individual payment limit of up to ₹5,000 at a time can be set across the entire UPI network. This service is available for both savings and current accounts, but international payments and cash withdrawals will be restricted. Spend Summary will track the entire budget This new feature is fully integrated with Paytm Spend Summary, which automatically categorizes each payment. This allows families to easily keep track of their total expenses, better manage pocket money budgets, and teach children the correct use of money. The app will also provide a complete option to view payment history. In-built Safety Measures for Security Paytm has made strict security arrangements for this. In the initial 30 minutes of feature activation, only transactions up to ₹500 will be allowed, and a maximum of ₹5,000 in the first 24 hours.
Parents can change the spending limit or immediately cancel children’s access at any time using their Paytm UPI PIN. Additionally, device lock is mandatory. What are UPI Circle and In-built Safety?
